| The Angina Monologues Synopsis |
THE ANGINA MONOLOGUES is a funny, dynamic, heartwarming and inspirational 30-45 minute corporate presentation showcasing the positive therapeutic healing power of humor. Written and performed by popular Canadian comedian/actor (Cinderella Man) Lou Eisen (a heart attack patient himself), The Angina Monologues concentrates on Lou’s positive use of humor therapy to expedite his recovery from a near fatal heart attack in February of 2005. (Author’s note: of course, if it were fatal, you wouldn’t be reading this right now.) Specifically designed for a corporate environment, The Angina Monologues will show you how humor can be used to interact with and motivate any employee who has suffered a major physical or mental trauma. Through humor, you will also learn easy and effective methods of stress management. Successfully handling stress management and physical trauma will create a harmonious work environment, which, in turn, will increase productivity. You must be careful not to misuse humor therapy, though. For instance, you shouldn’t interrupt a cardiologist from saving your life just to tell him a knock-knock joke. If it’s a really bad joke and he doesn’t laugh, what’s his motivation to save you then? Lou’s touching personal experiences will inspire, amuse and empower anyone who has suffered heart trauma or knows someone who has suffered heart trauma. The Angina Monologues demonstrates how humor can improve your health, sharpen your mental focus, increase corporate productivity, and motivate you to live a healthy, happy and ultra productive life. If nothing else, you’ll learn how to make fun of your neighbours. It should be noted that humor therapy works best in conjunction with, rather than instead of, heart medications and other proven therapies. Now, don’t get me wrong. I like to laugh as much as the next guy. In fact, I often like to laugh at the next guy. However, I would never replace Plavix and Lipitor with The Simpsons and Seinfeld. I might laugh more but I wouldn’t be around long enough to enjoy it. It is true that humor therapy is medically documented to be successful. That being said, if your heart is in distress you’d probably prefer a cardiologist to Carrot Top. The Angina Monologues is about using humor on a daily basis in order to survive and thrive. Remember, he who laughs last, lives longest! He who laughs alone, is well, uh, usually just plain weird. KEY POINTS OF THE ANGINA MONOLOGUES: Turning disbelief into acceptance and recovery |
